Looks like war fellers.
The odd thing is that I haven't heard anything about the tensions between Russia and Georgia up until today, and BAM, they are at war just like that.
What are your thoughts?

I probably shouldn't confess to such ignorance, but I've never heard of Ossetia and I'm not exactly sure where Georgia is. Clearly, I don't know enough about geography (let alone politics) to say anything intelligent about this situation. War's a bitch, though. At least Russia isn't invading the United States.

Look out Russia! Georgia has tanks!

Admittedly covered with sobbing military personnel, but sporting a cool multi-colored checkerboard pattern.

Well this is interesting:
"Before the Gunfire, Cyberattacks" (NY Times)
Someone hit Georgian government websites with DDOS attacks before this conflict started. The guy who wrote the article also implies that "cyberattacks" will eventually become a standard aspect of war, noting that countries that depend more on the internet (like the United States and Israel) would be more affected by these attacks than Georgia was.
(Hey, way to give the terrorists new ideas.)

They don't even have to hack them. If World War III ever occurs, all a country has to do is snip the underwater wire and it will take out international internet access to that area, it's as easy as that.
That means no Last.fm for US users, and pretty much no Internet for the rest of the world =P

The day they terminate papertank.com is a sad day indeed.
