I don't actually write fan fiction myself, but I'm somewhat curious, and this topic is bound to come up eventually if I don't address it now:

What is Papertank's official position regarding fan fiction? Is it against the rules for copyright reasons? I'm not exactly sure what the law is regarding fan fiction, since it's obviously unlicensed derivative work but everyone seems to get away with it. In any case, I haven't seen any fan fiction on Papertank yet.

We're alright with fan fiction as long they state the source they're using for their story and to keep the actual story as original as possible. A member did this once on TSS, using the character Zap Brannigan from the cartoon Futurama.

Oh, yeah, I do remember seeing that. I don't think I ever read it, though. At first glance, I figured it was more like a parody than a piece of fan fiction.

Anyway, that's good to know. Still, I'm surprised that we haven't seen any fan fiction around here. It seems like 90% of the writing on the internet is either fan fiction or something about anime. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. (Damn you, deviantART!)

i used to write tons of Halo fan fiction. Even though my writing has improved 10 fold since then, it gained me quite a name around the Halo communities. Maybe I'll post those here.
Also, that may be a good sorta section to implement if you put articles by genre on the site. Even if it doesn't get too many entries, that kinda thing shouldn't fit in any other category.

We're looking towards expanding the amount of categories as big as possible so everything gets represented.
