I've been going through books at quite a rate recently, to the point where I've stopped just enjoying the stories for what they are and have started analysing them and trying to work out what the authors are doing in their writing that I'm not and how I can incorporate the bits I like into my style.

This is fine and dandy but ruins the escapism of a good book =/

I need some new books to read, preferably by authors I've not read before,

As a general rule of thumb I'm into Sci-fi, Fantasy and Comic stories. Suggestions please.

Definitely go with Orson Scott Card, a favorite of mine. His magnum opus would have to be his Ender's Game series.

Ironically, I haven't actually read a book in more than a year.
