The blank white modules and lightly-colored background of the site remind me of a coloring book, and I'm itchin' to color it. Is there any possibility of multiple skins for the site being introduced in the future? (As I know nothing about programming, I have no idea if this is possible for a site like Papertank, but the white boxes make it look so easy. Besides, Ask.com did something like this...)

I really like the customization offered by the movable side-bar modules, which made me wonder what it would be like if each member could customize (to a certain extent) how the site looks, as well. Maybe members could also pick color schemes for their profile pages, kind of like the way YouTube does it (but not as ugly).

Anyway, there's something to put on the bottom of the to-do list.

At this time it would be rather difficult to add colors while maintaining a good look. However, the current theme will be modified in the future to fit a more "papery" feel. I'm sure we could somehow implement a customized color theme for users when that comes out.

I'm partially against the idea of allowing authors to color their profiles. Have you seen myspace? I know that it wouldn't be even nearly the same, but it just sort of ruins the site experience, you know?

MySpace pages are ugly, I'll give you that. But the entire site is ugly to begin with, in my opinion, which means it has little to do with how people customize their profiles. Still, if you allow too much customization in profiles, it probably will subtract from the site experience. Oh well. The whole profile thing was really just an afterthought. I still think alternate skins for the whole site would be neat, but only if it's easy to implement. Otherwise, it's not worth the trouble. Haha.

I'm actually currently working on a less "plain" site design that could implement user preferred colors. Hopefully I'll have it finished and online by the end of this month, so I'll try to keep you updated on the progress of it.

Haha, well we were considering going with an art oriented look like that, but we decided for the sake of keeping it clean and simple for the "non art lovers" that we'd go in a different direction. Although simple, the new layout has a "papery" feel to it with support for multiple color schemes, and I can almost guarantee that the majority of you are going to love it (with the exception of a few nostalgic site veterans out there).

Yeah, we seriously put a lot of thought into how to do the layout. We've also considered things to do with the 'tank' aspect of our name as well. For now, we're deciding on whether or not to make the forum tank themed just to jazz up the place a bit.

In the end, we just want to make Papertank simple and easy to use by everybody, while still visually appealing.

Ever wonder? This is how,
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Always remember but good to forget.
Happy but mostly sad.
No one knows.
I’m losing you and everything I love.
A vivid picture in my head.
Already forgiven but never forgotten.
I try, I try.
Yet it is always hard,
Things will get better, I know.
But the fall down is scarier...
