I want an end to these first person stories that aren't written well, but go on forever and ever.
Nobody gives them harsh reviews, because the people that would can't stand to finish the pieces.
But not I! I will be merciless and honest, telling these kids that that style needs refinement, CRAVES edits, or it doesn't work outside the blogosphere.
Otherwise they never learn :(
Btw, if anybody ever has a problem with a review I made, or something I said, just let me know about it. Chances are I didn't know any better and need a talking to :P

Hi Bunnymaster G---Well, well, so you’re a hard task master are you—I look forward to receiving my first verbal thrashing. I must admit I’m somewhat hash myself, but there are examples, which are so bad I won’t even attempt a critique.
My biggest complaint with this site is that a lot of pieces go through without any comment at all. To totally ignore a writers work is not only unkind, but rude as well.
That’s the way this old puppy sees it.
Talk to you soon---ablelaz.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about.
One of my articles is a short story that got a couple of votes and then was ignored.
I've seen a few articles that didn't even get that. I'm trying to make a habit out of finding those and giving them a fair review, but there are a lot.

We don't like it either! We have considered making a module that displays articles that haven't received a review yet, listed oldest to most recent. Would you like something of that nature?
And I support your raid of pure honesty Bunny. I'd prefer our writers improve from criticism than remain stagnant because of false compliments.

Hi Justin ----I can’t speak for others, but I would like to see a module designated to stories or chapters from writes, who are serious about getting feed back on their work. I would like it to be self contained, that is to say the submitter introduces his piece and the person who critiques it does so, on the same page.
All too many of the treads on this site seem to introduce and then require the submitter to leave a link to another page, which may or may not work. Even when it dose work, it leaves the reviewer wondering where he’s suppose to respond.
Well it’s probably not a big issue to all you computer experts, but let me tell you, it is to this ancient, old puppy.
Talk to you soon---ablelaz.

Although I fear that several of my stories are exactly the kind of literature you're criticizing here, we all appreciate your honesty and I personally look forward to any criticism you could offer. Just don't be mean on purpose when you're writing a review. (Rule of thumb: Never use the word "sucks.")

Maybe the
collection page should have an "Underdogs" filter (right next to the "Up and Coming" filter) which displays articles that have received the least attention (in terms of views, votes and reviews). I'm sure Caleb can come up with some kind of algorithm to display under-appreciated articles without displaying all of the bad ones. It could be a nice way to find good articles that haven't gotten that front-page attention.

I like this idea the best.
If anyone ever thinks I'm being malicious in any review, please tell me. It's something I've been trying to work on, not being so arrogant ya know, but it's hard to recognize when I am bringing something personal into a review.
Something tells me your articles are of a higher quality narration than the ones I was talking about. I'm talking about the ones written in first person with huge lumbering sentences and technical errors. People not editing things before they submit them basically, and that irks me quite a lot.

A combination of the module idea and the "underdog" category might almost correct this issue completely. Do you agree?

I think it might. Can't think of any better ideas :P
