OK, so here's the idea I have:

Me and a friend (another writer-type person) are about to embark on a literary endeavour titled "Three Six Five" - though that name will probably change to something more awesome the closer we get to the end. The idea is a (pretty fucking huge) anthology of vignettes and flash fiction - basically, short pieces typified by a word length of a minimum of 300 and maximum of 1000. The general idea is to do one for every single day of the year (so 365 in total, hence the working title).

As you might guess, though, this is a fairly monumental task - we're talking about 300,000 words. And we're students. Although it'll probably be mainly authored by me and this other mystery acquaintance, we're looking for other writers to do one or two short pieces for it. The book will be featured on Amazon, and if you contribute more than one piece others will be able to search for you. Otherwise, your work will simply be featured in the book.

Cover art, means of publication and ISBN registration are already secured - all we need now is content.

If you fancy joining in, either leave a response to this message or PM me. There are a lot of good writers around here.

NOTE: This book will be marketed on a not-for-profit basis, meaning no-one will receive any royalties for this book (not even me). Potential contributors should see this more as a springboard or portfolio addition for their work, and not as a means to get rich.

Hi Chris---Interesting idea you have. If the word counds are writen in stone I don`t thnk I have anything that qualifies, however I have several between one and two thosand words.

This concept rememds me of another book of short stories, collected under the understanding it was to be not-for-profit. In reality it was publish and marketed uder the title "Chicken Soup for the Soul. It made the permoter a bundle but on one else saw a dime.

Thats not something I would want to perticapate in, but it would stand looking at.

Talk to you soon---ablelaz.

I'll be honest - the reason it's not-for-profit is because we can't afford it. The entire thing will be self-published, with us registering ISBNs, paying for cover art, etc. So if anything, we're making a loss. The other reason is that it's going to cost a lot to manufacture, given it's on a print-on-demand basis, so we can't really raise the price above the base without making it massively overpriced. Hence no royalty - not for anyone.

Hope this clears things up, and it'd be nice to see what you've got. It's flexible, definitely.

I was curious about this after seeing it a week ago, but thought it might be done or something.
I can only write fanfiction at the moment.
In fact I just wrote one in longhand today, so yeah I'd be interested.

Think we may have crossed wires here - it's flash fiction we're interested in, rather than fanfic. I try and shy away from the latter as much as possible.

But no - it's still open, and probably will be until about June next year. So if there's anything you're interested in sending, just give me a bell.

Hmm, relevant to my interests.
I'm also a student looking to build up my portfolio of literary endeavours, so doing a few pieces for a project like this would be a nifty little sideline for me to embark on.

Chapter 3

Dri focused on the glass sphere that relaxed in a velvet cushion, the creak of the bow dispelled the suffocating silence, his lips tightened into a thin line as he drew it back and his green eyes sharpened. A sigh escaped him as he relaxed the bow.

“No.” he breathed, disappointment soured his face, “not good enough....
