...broke. It finally kicked the bucket. After years and years and generations of faithful service. R.I.P. 2008.

Do you think it's possible to fix? I'm sure there are places out there that specialize in repairing busted antique video game consoles. If not, my condolences. I've never owned an Atari, as I grew up with the NES and SNES, but I'm old enough to understand the nostalgia associated with such technologically inferior pieces of plastic machinery. I wonder if people will ever feel this way about the Xbox 360.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've never actually had the opportunity to play with one, but I'm aware of the influence it's had to succeeding consoles. Perhaps we should hold a funeral burial session, along side my 90 GB laptop hard drive that also passed today.
Did you ever get the chance to play that horrible ET game?

Yes, I played the real deal and like everyone else I had no idea what the hell I was suppose to do. The power cord that leads directly to the Atari snapped in half, so I'd need a completely new Atari. I've already tried reattaching it with electrical tape and not only is that very hazardous, it didn't work.

So you can't just buy a new power cord? If it's just an external wire, I'm sure there's some way of fixing it.

Well the cord doesn't plug into the Atari, it's built right in to the Atari like a Television or DVD player.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm sure there's a way to fix it, but I'll be damned if I know how.

First thing I tried. I even tried running it off a potato.
