...to give negative votes to the 'highest ranking' members?
I have a poem on the articles list and although I've received 23 views, I haven't received one vote.
Now, personally I'd prefer to receive 23 negative votes than none - this way I'll know that I cannot write poetry, even if they don't review!
Are people scared that by giving me 'negative' votes, I'll come back and give them a negative vote out of spite? and because I have a higher vote it'll be worse for them????!!
Not sure if there is any way to police activity like this - but I'd like to think there is honor amongst 'authors' and 'readers'....
To be or not to be....that is totally illogical captain.....Spock.

i went and read it, but didn't vote or review it because i've never been a poetry person.

Don't make us kick your ass!

I have no problem with people not voting - it's the null vote problem - I was just intrigued to see if people were not voting negative on purpose, so they don't upset people!!!!

There are several reasons I know why people don't vote. First off, to get them to look at your article page in the first place is a whole different story. Mainly it's the first impression they get when they come to your article page, if they realize 'oh this poetry, forget it' they may not even bother to read it. Some people will read half of it and lose interest. Some who make it all the way through may think it shouldn't go up or down in score or just too lazy to enter a vote. To get a good example of the latter, go to any popular Youtube video and compare the amount of votes to the amount of views. The first vote is what normally gets the ball rolling. When another member sees someone gave it a positive or negative, they are curious to find out why and then throw in their own two cents.
What you said also plays a factor Simey, some people are just afraid to offend.

When we finish the null vote feature, this will hopefully no longer pose a problem.

Null: without value, effect, consequence, or significance.
Basically, a vote that lets you leave a review, without actually affecting the score of the piece.
Because, you know, some pieces don't really tilt you either way.
'm really glad they brought that in.

We're glad you pressured us enough to get it done! People certainly shouldn't be as intimated as before about voting.
