Dispossessed beneath the weight of organs,
all burdens shatter like trampled frozen eyes.
Enslavement replaces sight; visions will be appointed
and illustrated upon a grated chest.
Bloody rains paint joyous landscapes
made permanent in purple and in white.
the fingernail: the artist’s brush;
the flesh: the paint and workspace.
Violet shades fade pallid
and numbness lends relief
as the shrieking living canvas
silently requests his bonds be tightened.
