I'm going to have to go and re-read the foreward to the Hobbit again!! Perhaps it's only my own personal preference, but if you called this something like 'Appendix - about the world' rather than 'Foreward' it would be very good - it would then give me the option to read it or not - I always tend to read a 'foreward'.
