The Pogues - Christmas In Glasgow

The Pogues - Christmas In Glasgow

Part of a folio I had to send into University, an account of an event I'd seen in the last year.

    The Pros
You can't go wrong with a story that includes 'booze-soaked'. Seriously. I always love a story that has good description, even if it is a stereotypical indie band. The article feels like it could have been read out of a local 'scene' paper. Take that as a compliment :P
    The Cons
I fail to see anything wrong with the story to tell you the truth. It was well written in that if their were any typo's or grammatical I glanced right over them because I was enjoying the telling of your evening.

Song description might not be plausible because I would only see people that have heard the band reading the article, but they might have been nice.
    Final Thoughts
Keep on drinking and do us drinking states and nations proud.

    The Pros
Good review of ... something. Not quite sure who the hell you were talking about, but from the background information that was supplied I can imagine what they'd be like. But then again, who can't connect with a half-drunken band?
    The Cons
Even though a good picture was painted with the background info, more is always welcome. Some descriptions seemed a little vague, and could have been improved upon.
    Final Thoughts
Exceptional review. Seemed to be in a professional context, but appealed to me as not being a dull report.

  • Good Review of people I don't know!

    The Pros
First review on papertank, alright! And a good one to boot! I had been really pushing for people to do more reviews and informational pieces on TSS, and I hope more will happen at PT. I had no idea who any of the people you mentioned were, but you painted a perfect picture of who they were with background information and a detailed story of your personal experience with them. You put forth your opinion very well, and made this review your own with an added personal flavor.
    The Cons
I wish I could have gotten some more background information on the band you reviewed or the 'Christmas in Glasgow' event itself. Could have been a little longer, but I felt it did it's job without beating around the bush too much. And I probably would have found this more appealing if I knew who the people you were talking about were, but that's not your fault.
    Final Thoughts
Great Review, I hope to see a lot more where this came from. You did it just like how a magazine would. It felt professional AND personal. You told a story that I could picture in my head. I could envision all the hootin' and hollering and dancing around! Yeehaw!

I rather thought she now stood further away from her end of the counter. In her mind I was no doubt shedding ugly on her desk, she had to get further away. Sneaking a peek at my zits (I'm sure she did), she hands me my mail. The word international flashes in the air: I get international mail and your job is to hand it over. Thankyou.
