The Green Fairy

The Green Fairy

Poetry, y'know what I mean?

Oh The Green Fairy,
She'll weep for me,
And I'll feast upon her tears.
She is beautiful,
And tempting me,
I'll be dead behind my years.

For this town of mine,
She'll bury me,
In water that makes me shiver.
The waves are green,
They're burning me,
The Fairy cried this river.

I lie in death a martyr,
Her love has finished me,
I hold onto her wing, and gently sing,
God curse the Green Fairy!

what i enjoyed about this poem also appears in the cons section but I disagree with one of the other reviewers who said he thought you were heavy handed with the punctuation. if you did it on purpose and if it is part of the meaning the almost staccato, I'm not sure if I'm spelling that right, na... Nice to see this finally featured! I didn't think an article could hit the front page after two months.

ah, absinthe. how fondly i remember thee. :)

i agree with gabrielle about the punctuation. but what really amused me was a poem in the romantic style about the romantics' beverage of choice. how fun is that?

I have to admit, I didn't catch the absinthe reference the first time through. (Hey, I'm not a big drinker.) I did like the poem though, even more now that I fully understand it. Short, but sweet.

I'm not really one for poetry, but this one I did enjoy.

    I love the Green Fairy.

Overall I liked this but sometimes I feel you got a bit heavyhanded with the punctuation.

Ever wonder? This is how,
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Always remember but good to forget.
Happy but mostly sad.
No one knows.
I’m losing you and everything I love.
A vivid picture in my head.
Already forgiven but never forgotten.
I try, I try.
Yet it is always hard,
Things will get better, I know.
But the fall down is scarier...
