Polemics

Real red white and blue.

Author's Commentary
I'm tired of mainstream news stations.
Our politicians are laughing while the world burns
And they’re promising the world, everyday;
Acting as if I’m really gonna learn
To believe what they advertise, believe what they say

Lessons in school, don’t tell me to be cruel!
Don’t tell me that I shouldn’t pull the lever;
Dictators will rule, ‘cuz we’re a big box of tools;
The future, imagine a boot stomping us, forever

And so when all hell breaks loose
Point your finger level, and high,
While they’re running from the noose;
Put bullets through home, and sky

Blame is universal, trouble is, too
I’m not trying to shirk responsibilities;
Our nation ain’t doing what’s really white and blue,
We’re just red, to add to all our fallacies

The crimes we commit should warrant life
On every date, a new rape, a new death;
Don’t be thinkin’ elects will clean off the knife
Right may not be right, but yet to see what’s the left

The individual is the only one with power
That’s real power, not wealth, not money, not brand;
Will you be the ones burnt out, darkest hour?
Will you be the one washed up with the sand?

Who I am is who I write
Who I write is who they’ll fight
Who they’ll fight is who I am
So in that case, I’m Uncle Sam.

    Powerful stuff...
    "Our nation ain’t doing what’s really white and blue,
    We’re just red, to add to all our fallacies"
    is a great line - it's commenting that while we preach to the rest of the world, we don't have our own house in order.

    Error; first line, second stanza should be 'Lessons in school, don't tell me not to be cruel!' My bad.

I rather thought she now stood further away from her end of the counter. In her mind I was no doubt shedding ugly on her desk, she had to get further away. Sneaking a peek at my zits (I'm sure she did), she hands me my mail. The word international flashes in the air: I get international mail and your job is to hand it over. Thankyou. Make-up from overseas.
