Entropy

Entropy

The end.

Author's Commentary
If you're familiar with the conept of entropy this should make sense but its not all about how the laws of entropy chnage the universe. It's also about human entropy as in the entropy in our emotion and creativity. For those who are not familiar with entropy it is, in it's most basic form, the level of choas in the universe starting with the catastrophic explosion of the big bang, full of energy and pockets of heat and matter, to the end of the universe when everything will have cooled to a single temperature, hence my final comment.
The storming feet of soldiers,
with no one left to fight,
stamp on our faces, uncaring.
We lie on fractured mountain peaks
soaked with innocent blood.
Wars were fought here
and art was made
so ferociously I couldn’t tell
which was which.

Splintered fingers touch each other,
finding another broken soul.
They’ve never met before
but died together here.
Upstairs they drink bleach
in a last hearty toast
to all the conquest and the failure
the populace believed to be
so important at the time.

At the end of all things
time has a long way yet to run,
though seconds are no longer counted
now hearts cannot keep the beat
and the watch maker is blind.
Loveliness is homeless,
wandering in empty space.
The brutal fires of passion cooled
to room temperature.

This part of the poem stood out for me. Mixing war and art with the word ferocious was clever, and it echoes in the mind a bit.
Rhythm, punctuation, all that kind of... (read more)

I rather thought she now stood further away from her end of the counter. In her mind I was no doubt shedding ugly on her desk, she had to get further away. Sneaking a peek at my zits (I'm sure she did), she hands me my mail. The word international flashes in the air: I get international mail and your job is to hand it over. Thankyou. Make-up from overseas.
