Burn the Beatles

Burn the Beatles

Burn 'em all, I say.

Author's Commentary
I'm sick and tired of the Beatles getting credit for what they didn't do. So I wrote a song about them. Enjoy.
Paul, George, Ringo, John
People like them a lot
Me, no sir, not one bit
I think they’re a bunch of bullshit

They don’t shoot no Revolvers
Don’t have any Rubber Soul
If a good band played Love
They’d be selling their hard rock soles

Take the White Album
And for Bon and Cliff, paint it black
Step two, listen to Piggys
And third, throw it in the trash

Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em all, I say
Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em down, today

Too bad Sgt. Pepper is lonely
Ain’t getting my company or a sky with Lucy
At least when I turn on WLUP
They don’t have no Lennon, and no McCartney

Rock, it’s an art, the best that’ll ever be
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and AC/DC
Beatles, they walk into a music museum
And piss all over its Mona Lizzy

When you take a magic mystery tour
You better leave them under the sea
Yesterday, it ain’t too far away
‘Cuz pop ain’t change since she said she loves me

Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em all, I say
Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em down, okay?

Popularity doesn’t equal
Quality
Quality doesn’t make
More money
Money won’t spell
Popularity
#1’s don’t mean
Equality

Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em all, I say
Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em down, today

Might as well head back to U.S.S.R
Here, everyone’s opinion is the same
Beatles are God, John is Jesus,
But it doesn’t matter; they’re still fucking lame

How about real music, real lyrics,
RATM, SOAD, RHCP
‘Tallica, Sabbath, and the good ole Stones
Then we’ll talk about real rock n’ roll

Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em all, I say
Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em down, okay?

Lighters, flint, cigarettes, matches
Now we shall alight the sounds of our plight
It’s a good thing rock had a buried hatchet
‘Cuz now it is time to see who will run and who will fight!

Burn all the songs
Burn all the discs
Screw those norms
Listen to some risks
Burn all the CD’s
Burn all the EP’s
Fuck the ideals
And fuck the worthless dreams
Burn all the songs
Burn all the discs
Screw the goddamn norms
Take some fucking risks
Burn all the CD’s
Burn all the EP’s
Burn the Beatlemania
And burn the conform dreams

Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em all, I say
Burn the Beatles
Burn ‘em down, okay?
Burn ‘em down, from pop we must awake

I enjoyed the lyrics. It rhymed well and each paragraph's lines weren't apart in letter too far.

Use of violent language and maybe the hatred went too far. When reading this song, I almost felt the hatred and since I am a very sensible person, I was close to feeling sorry for the bea... (read more)

LOL I feel that maybe you don't like the Beatles? I'll review the poem at a later date, but as somone who grew up listening to the Beatles I just comment that bands like Led Zepp etc (who I also grew up with and loved) were heavily influenced by the Beatles - just listen to some of the later Beatles stuff - the non-commercial stuff that doesn't get played often on radio and you'll here the beginnings of heavy rock....however, we're all entitled to our opinions and while I'm not a huge Beatles fan, I do understand how someone can feel they are all hype!

I rather thought she now stood further away from her end of the counter. In her mind I was no doubt shedding ugly on her desk, she had to get further away. Sneaking a peek at my zits (I'm sure she did), she hands me my mail. The word international flashes in the air: I get international mail and your job is to hand it over. Thankyou. Make-up from overseas.
